Christmas in July Cabaret

Cabaret is a wide and glittering umbrella term in which an intimate and direct relationship is fostered between performer and audience, regardless of how big or small that audience may be. Cabaret harnesses a strong sense of community and connection.

About our Cabarets

Featuring The Company and soloists, our Cabarets are designed to entertain our loyal members and audiences while providing less experienced performers and crew a safe space to learn.

We are looking for performers who can connect with the audience, interpret the set song in their own style and perform with energy and enthusiasm. You’ll need to tell your story directly to the audience and create atmosphere. The audience wants to have a connection with you and feel what this song means to you.

Our 2024 Christmas Cabaret is high on energy. We have selected songs from pop, movicals, and musicals and you’ll pick your audition songs from this set list. There are very few down-tempo songs. No Mariah Carey will be harmed, and this show isn’t your usual carols vibe.

Acts

Diva Angels

The girls will sing a medley of Christmas inspired pop. Solo moments and enhancing with harmonies.

Female and Male Solos

Girls, deliver a big number from Jesse J to a comedy number from Elf. Guys, give the gift of Your Song, open with What's This? or feature in a movical number!

Rockin' Men

The boys take us from Elvis, Chuck Berry to Wizzard in a medley of solo moments and harmonies!

Dreaming Children

A Million Dreams medley takes us to the Polar Express and songs from The Muppet's Christmas movie. A solo from Shirely Temple too! Age guide from 6 - 15.

Auditions

You'll pick one, two or three songs from the song list and perform your interpretation. Give us your best two minutes - that is, no long instrumental intros and cutting your track to the chorus/bridge or verse/chorus/big note bit. We want you to sound like you (not like the original artist). While we might not listen to all your songs that you have rehearsed, we may get you to try a few different things in the audition or may ask you to sing a bit again. We might get you to do some basic moves.

  • 6.30pm – 9.00pm   Thursday 4 April

Audition songs

Remember to sing YOUR version of the song (e.g., don't try to sing like Sia or Chuck). You'll need to organise and bring your backing track on your phone, USB or other bluetooth device and sing the best 2 minutes.
